Mobile Outreach Service (MOS) Plus - NT Only
What it doesMOS Plus provides counselling and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families and communities experiencing trauma related to any form of child abuse, and living in remote communities and town camps across the Northern Territory.
The Program employs counsellors and Aboriginal Therapeutic Resource Officers (ATROs). Referrals to the service can be from families themselves, or through service providers such as health clinics, non-government organisations, schools or child protection services in the Northern Territory.
MOS Plus staff work with children and their families to help them decide if they want counselling or not. MOS Plus teams are also able to talk to community leaders and community members about the service.
MOS Plus started in 2008 and is delivered by the Northern Territory Office of Children and Families through funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
