Additional Assistance Scheme (AAS)
What it doesThe AAS (also known as the Fellowship Support Scheme) provides case management and funding for eligible Overseas Trained Doctors (OTDs) and Australian trained doctors who are working towards Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
Participating doctors take part in courses and training to help them achieve Fellowship.
Only participants in the 5 Year OTD Scheme and / or Rural Locum Relief Program can be eligible for assistance under the AAS.
What it achievesThe scheme helps to strengthen the workforce in rural and remote Australia.
